Budapest, world capital of ruin bars

Considered one of the best party destinations in Europe, the Hungarian capital offers many opportunities for night owls. Come on board the A38 barge for an evening of exhibitions and live concerts along the banks of the Danube. Walk down to the engine room, order a drink, and sip it on the rooftop or boat deck. Does the concept of "ruin bars" sound interesting? It's a bar set up in an abandoned building, usually on several floors. Go to a former dentist's office from the 1950s, the Fogas Ház – literally "house of teeth" - where you can dance while having pizza. If you are not afraid of heights and prefer an authentic vibe, go to Corvintető for a night on the roof of a supermarket and dance until dawn. But know that Szimpla Kert - a ruin converted into a bar with a fun bohemian vibe - was first in this unusual concept. If you are in town in August, head to the island of Obuda for the biggest European festival, Sziget, which offers a weeklong musical experience.

Bangkok, eclectic city and night scene for all

Whether you're looking for fancy evenings or a more casual atmosphere, Bangkok offers a wide range of nightlife festivities. In the Huai Khwang neighbourhood, you will come across the Parking Toy – the place is not so easy to find, but that's part of the game – where you'll enjoy a beer in a relaxed atmosphere to the sound of rock music. Take a tour of Glow, a favourite spot for the most famous DJs, and mingle with the city's biggest partygoers. Upstairs, soft lighting and sofas offer a mellow respite away from all the noise and celebration. One of the best rooftops in Bangkok is undoubtedly the Sirocco Sky Bar perched on the 63rd floor of the Lebua State Tower, offering breath-taking views of the city. The Muse invites you to a nature friendly night with its green plant-wall, waterfall and rooftop terrace covered with wood and artificial grass. Enjoy a caipirinha in São Paulo

If you are passing through, you must try a caipirinha, the "national" drink of Brazil, but not just anywhere: start your festive exploration at Veloso Bar, where friendly Mr. Souza will mix the best one. If you're into chic evenings and avant-garde, come and taste molecular cocktails at Lab Club and enjoy surprising and delightful beverages. Following this divine discovery, you'll face a dilemma: Ciné Joia, one of the oldest cinemas in São Paulo, which now presents the best concerts of the region, or one of the famous travelling parties organized by Brazilian collective Voodoohop? Look out for lines - we recommend you check the location in advance. Like any self-respecting clubber, end your night at an after party by famous D-Edge. If you are starving after these exciting outings, head to lanchonete Frevo. Bar hopping in Glasgow

In Glasgow, Scotland's largest city, the tradition is to go bar hopping... riding the metro. This typical local concept is called "subcrawl". Ashton Lane Street, in the West End, is so crowded with pubs and bars it's difficult to make a choice. Head to Brel Bar, housed in an old post office, and sample traditional Scottish nectars. Discover a large number of craft beers, draft, or Belgian Trappist ales, in a friendly atmosphere. The bar that offers the best rock music is undoubtedly King Tut's Wah Wah Hut. It has hosted bands such as Oasis, Radiohead and The Verve in a small 300-seat venue. For a great finish, head to one of the best clubs of the city since 1930, The Art School. A creative space for the Glasgow School of Art students by day, while revealing a completely different face by night and luring the best international DJs.

Clubbing in Copenhagen

Jump right into local festivities and choose the best of Copenhagen nightlife: Culture Box. Your rhythmic frenzy to the sound of the best techno, house and dubstep will last until dawn. Should you prefer a variety of musical genres, choose Rust, which spreads on several floors. Dance to Danish rock for a few minutes, then move onto another room to listen to indie or hip-hop bands playing live. Overlooking a lake, the Sopavillonen organises concerts from 10 p.m. to midnight before turning into a nightclub for an eclectic evening with 80s and 90s sound or more contemporary music. Do not miss one of Scandinavia's best and largest electronic music clubs: the Vega Night Club. World-renowned DJs such as Laurent Garnier and Dimitri From Paris have spun on the stage of this building dating back to the 50s. Various atmospheres on three levels, techno or soul, will get you to dance all night. Before you leave, have a drink at the Ideal Bar on the ground floor.
